Banned Books Week

"Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment.  Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States." Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Library Association, the American Booksellers Association, American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, the American Society of Jounralists and Authors, the Association of Amerian Publishers, the National Association of College Stores, the National Council of Teachers of English, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the National Coalition Against Censorship, and the PEN American Center.  It is also endorsed by the Center for the Book (Library of Congress).
