Bamman SSPE302: Organization and Administration in Sport and Physical Education: Let's Begin

Getting Started with Your Research

Step 1: We recommend you set up your own personal WorldCat Local account. If you are already in Countess OneSearch (our online catalogue), notice the WorldCat sign-in button in the upper right corner, click, and create your (free) account. This account will exist until YOU delete it. It is not connected to your student account with our library.  If you are just starting, scroll down to the WorldCat link to create your personal account.

Step 2:  Saving Searches and creating Lists:  Once you have your WorldCat account you will see that every time you sign in to it the button "My WorldCat" will appear at the top of your screen.  Use this button to see any searches and lists of resources you've saved.  How do you get started doing this?

Step 3: As you conduct your research, consider saving list of resources you think might be useful to you, as well as saving your successful searches.  Later, you won't have to try and reconstruct your searches (trying to remember those key words that got the best results) or try to remember the author of that article that was perfect for your assignment.  Your saved lists of resources can come in very handy when it's time to do your bibliography (or works cited page).

Searching for a Specific Journal

If you have a particular journal, magazine, or newspaper you would like to search, and you wonder if we have electronic access to that title, there is a way to find this out .. use the "A-to-Z ePublications" button on the online catalogue:
