Welcome Box

Welcome to "Don't Burn Up Down Under": a Libguide on Skin Cancer in Australia and Abroad!  This Libguide's purpose is to bring you general information about skin cancer and its impact on Australian citizens.  Currently, Australia has the highest rate of diagnosis for skin cancer, especially melanoma.  Therefore, the Australian government and other organizations have been working to provide information and preventative measures to inform Australian citizens.  This Libguide also provides information on ways to protect yourself while also providing links to the Australian websites for preventing skin cancer.  There are also pages discussing the reasons for the increased rate of skin cancer in Australia, as well as current scientific research into this field in Australia and abroad (since skin cancer is an international issue).

This first page gives you a brief look at some interesting things you will find in this Libguide.  Please enjoy!

Video 1 - Australian News Channel on Skin Cancer

This is a short news clip from the NBN news channel.  While the video is 2 years old, its message for Australians still holds true - skin cancer can be very dangerous.  The video shows how important skin cancer is on Australian culture, and some general methods of protecting yourself.

Video 2 - Interesting Skin Cancer Awareness Commercial

This is a funny video that highlights one of the main reasons people should learn about skin cancer and how to prevent it.  Maybe its the ridiculousness of the video that makes its impact even more effective.
