Library Position Vacancies

Part-time Evening Supervisor (non-library faculty position):  Monday - Thursday nights, 4:30/5:00 - 9:00.  Responsibilities are primarily to ensure Library operations run smoothly during evening hours, including supervising student work-study assistants, assisting students and other Library users with questions and needs (to the extent qualified), ensuring a smooth transition to the Library's "24/7" hours at 9:00 p.m., working effectively with the secondary evening part-time staff member, assisting with the check-in and shelving of the print periodicals subscriptions, and other duties as assigned.  Reliability, the ability to work with and provide services to a diverse group of people and personalities, and the ability to effectively contribute to a welcoming Library experience are key factors in hiring. 

 

Administrative Assistant (non-library faculty position, full-time):  A main job function of this position is fulfilling many of  the acquisitions functions of the Library (e.g. placing orders approved by the Director of the Library for books and other resources), using vendor ordering systems, maintaining stocks of supplies and ordering when replenishment is necessary, generating purchase order requisitions when necessary and cheque requests to pay invoices.  The Administrative Assistant works with the Library faculty member who oversees our interlibrary loan service (the Administrative Assistant is responsible for shipping ILLs).  Other responsibilities include: Processing time cards for hourly Library employees and delivering to the Business Office, assisting the technical services Library Associate with deaccessioning resources as they are removed from the collections (which entails work in the Library's automated library system), working closely with the Director of the Library in managing the overall administrative functions of the Library (includes maintaining Library files), and assisting with opening the Library during the week.  Other duties as assigned.  Reliability, the ability to work with and provide services to a diverse group of people and personalities, and the ability to effectively contribute to a welcoming Library experience are key factors in hiring.

As part of the federal work-study program, the Library employees a corp of student assistants during the academic year.  If you are a student at Huntingdon and are interested in working in the Library, you may contact Ms. Elizabeth McCord, Assistant Professor & Access Services Librarian.  

Annually, the Library bestows the Libris Award upon an outstanding library student assistant.  This award scholarship is presented on the annual college awards day convocation.  (See the "Awards" page for further information.)
