Systems/Electronic Resources Librarian
The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian will have the primary responsibility of managing the Library's systems and e-resources. The Systems and Electronic Resources Librarian will work to ensure optimized, continuous access to the Library's databases, books, journals, and other resources through effective management and troubleshooting of the ILS and other systems, as well as engaging in some of the traditional technical services functions of the Library. Research assistance, information literacy and technology instruction, and collection development responsibilities are key elements of the position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Hold primary responsibility for developing and sustaining the web catalog.
Serve as primary liaison with ILS vendor (OCLC).
Configure and maintain library technologies supporting electronic and other resource access.
Work with vendors to monitor and troubleshoot performance issues with library systems.
Establish and monitor trials of electronic resources and assist in evaluation.
Instruct students, faculty and staff in the use of the integrated library system and e-resources.
Facilitate e-resource connectivity, discovery, and maintenance issues.
Creates clear and efficient workflows for all e-resource and other acquisitions and discovery tasks.
Oversee the Library’s digitization efforts.
Provide reference and research services to students, faculty, staff and community members.
Keep abreast of developments in the Library Science discipline through the literature and participation in professional groups and organizations at various levels (local, state, national, etc.).
Participate in the evaluation, selection, and deselection of library materials.
Share information literacy teaching responsibilities with other members of library faculty.
Engage in professional activities, continuing scholarship, and college service.
Fulfill responsibilities of a Huntingdon College faculty member.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to administer, configure, and troubleshoot the Library's integrated library system, including security, users, profiles, policies, circulation, cataloging, and statistical data reporting.
Knowledge of best practices, current trends and issues in electronic resources management.
Understanding of integrated library systems (ILS). Familiarity with cataloging processes including management of resource records, vendor tracking, usage statistics, licensing terms, and other account and subscription information.
Ability to be effective in teaching information and technology literacies
Ability to work independently and collegially as part of a close-knit team.
Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a high comfort level with innovation and change.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of DDC, cataloging, subject headings, and MARC.
Knowledge of current trends related to technical services and system administration.
